5 Ways to Get Your Tractor Ready for Spring

Now that Spring is in full swing, it’s time to break out your equipment! At the beginning of the season, it’s good to start out on the right foot.

We know most tractors on the market inside and out. Not only have we helped you work with your tractors since 2014, but our family has lived and worked on farms for many years. Here’s what we do in spring to get the most out of our tractors.

1. Change engine oil

Much like the vehicle you drive, you have to change the oil in your tractor, too. This includes draining the oil, removing & replacing the oil filter, adding oil back into the system, and changing your fuel filter.

2. Clean air filter

Remove and clean your tractor’s air filter. If your filter can’t be cleaned, you may need to change it!

3. Clean screen on the radiator

Cleaning the screen in front of the radiator makes a huge difference in cooling. Avoid overheating on the job by using an air compressor to remove all dust, dirt, and debris.

4. Check battery

Pull out a multimeter and make sure your battery is good to go. Some signs that your battery needs to be charged are if the engine doesn’t crank, if it cranks too slowly, or makes a clicking sound.

5. Grease all Zerk fittings

This is a detail that’s easy to forget, but it’s important to do in order to keep your tractor in the best condition. Steering components, loader arms, hydraulic pistons and more are all places to grease.
